Must admit, I've been allowing my Wendyhousing to slip a bit of late, not been at all this year. But decided to put that right in style by going to the 11th birthday party on Saturday 16th May 2009 - and a bloody good night it was too! TBH I'd completely forgotten just how brilliant the Wendyhouse is when it's on form, and it was on top form last night, even if whoever it was decided to fade out "Paradise City" just as the guitar solo started really does need to be taken out and shot! :-)
We had horsewomen of the apocalypse (clip clop!), we had Starfleet officers, we had the entire Third Legion, there was at least one predator running about the place, there were glowsticks galore, and more corsets than you could shake, well, a room full of Goths at!
And the music... I danced to everything from The Smiths (yes, really!) to Mindless Self Indulgance, via just about every alternative subgenre anyone could name. And that was before heading up to EBM heaven in Mutate upstairs.
Between Friday Flock (which is a truly superb Goth night covering the whole range from Trad to Bleep to Industrial) and The Wendyhouse (which promotes itself simply as "Party Darkly" and delivers in spades), we're truly spoiled in Leeds. And that's before counting the weekly Black Sheep (which TBH I can't realy "review" given that I sometimes DJ it!).
The Leeds Goth Scene. Hell yeah!
