Rob and Clare (trying, unsuccessfully, to hide!)
The party started in the fair English city of Nottingham, where I met up with Clare and Rob Sherlock, and starting as we meant to continue, we quaffed some very fine ale, "Druid's Droop", in England's oldest pub (almost 1000 years old!), "Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem".
Part of the pub is carved from the soft stone of the hill behind it.
Shades of things to come?
One of Nottingham's tree-lined streets.
After an easy overnight drive down the M1, we flew over with EasyJet, from Luton airport, on this Boeing 737-700. A nice, if somewhat short, flight - almost as soon as we'd reached crusing height it was time to descend again!
Travel from the airport into central Paris was by by a fast and smooth RER suburban electric train. The only slight cause for alarm was the sign warning that getting one's hands caught in the doors would cause us to turn into giant rabbits! Now that really is scary, perhaps we should try it with chavs in the UK?...
